           The astral plane is a realm in the Interitus series (used mostly in  Interitus 1 , Books 1 and 2) where a soul goes when it separates from its body. This can be thought of astral projection, and the astral plane is simply an overlay on actual reality. For example, if a mountain stands in the physical world, it exists in the same location in the astral plane. The main difference is that other entities (generally, other souls-without-body) may exist there as well. In the astral plane, you can perceive things that cannot be seen in the physical world. Furthermore, a soul can pass through physically-solid objects and float into the sky.
