Astrodeus Powers

 


An Astrodeus power is a unique power that everyone in the universe possesses. While some appear very similar to others, no two people have the same exact power unless they somehow have the same exact soul. Ordinary people are unaware of this power because they simply do not have the fuel with which to use it, and this fuel (called quintessence) is especially hard to acquire. Almost everyone will go through their lives without ever acquiring quintessence or accessing their Astrodeus powers.

Unlike genetic abilities or special weapons, each person has their Astrodeus power encoded into their soul. While they cannot ever change their powers, they can further learn how to use it with practice, effectively expanding its capabilities. Many people believe that your Astrodeus power does more than simply dwell in your soul; it is the epitome of your soul. They believe it is a representation of who you really are, underneath all the changes you make to become the person you think you are supposed to be.

Most Astrodeus powers cost a single point of quintessence, although some cost tremendously more. Some powers can be switched on and off at will, in which case the user burns quintessence (at a varying rate) only while it is active.

Except for very rare and extreme exceptions, all Astrodeus powers can be categorized in one of the three following ways:

Propagator powers: The user emits their power as a blast of energy or temporary mass.

Ventriloquist powers: The user gains the ability to telepathically control something in their vicinity. This is usually a power over something specific, such as metal or saltwater.

Sleepwalker powers: The user gains the ability to transform their own physical abilities, or in some cases, transform their body into something else entirely. For example, Hatasuko has a sleepwalker power which (very briefly) grants him a flash of extreme superstrength, which he then uses to strike or throw weapons at a supersonic speed.

No-control sleepwalkers: Very rarely, a sleepwalker will transform into a being over which they have no control.

Sail-Rana (vehicle)

  A sail-rana is a vehicle invented by Vaida, although credited to Lazaro who sold the designs to merchants and engineers in  Agrideī . Although it can come in many different shapes and sizes, the core concept is a wheeled boat with a foldable mast and sail. When the sail is deployed, the passengers can catch the wind and roll northwestward over land, since this is the direction in which the wind normally blows. (See  Agrideī  for more information). The boat can also roll into the ocean or a river, where a sailor can choose to either row, ride the current, or continue sailing. Because the wind hitting the large sail (usually rectangular) tips the structure forward, it is advised that passengers sit in the back. A sail-rana has a steering wheel which tilts the wheels on land and the rudder in water.
