The Fragments of Omnipotence

In the universe of Interitus 1, the powers of god (also called the fragments of omnipotence) are controlled as weapons, except that each power can only be held by a single person. This is to say that two different people cannot simultaneously wield the power of Creation. These powers are typically converged into a single person. For example, in A World without Misery, a man named Caelicola controls all four fragments. While these powers are not physical weapons, they bond to a body rather than a soul. If the body of their wielder dies, then the power is simply erased. However, a wielder of Omnipotence can willingly transfer their power to another. While it is ordinarily passed from mentor to student, others may try to compel wielders into giving away their power.

In that these powers are the weapons of God, they break the laws of physics. They do not abide my Newton's 3rd Law, which means that there is no equal and opposite reaction. They are not bound by the law of conservation of energy. A wielder will exhaust themselves by using a fragment of Omnipotence, but it is not that they pay 80 Joules of their own internal energy to Create 80 Joules of some other energy. It truly is Created from nothing, using only their stamina as a pseudo-cost. As such, these are considered to be the highest class of powers in the universe. The powers of Omnipotence are usually associated with a faint purple glow.

The four fragments of Omnipotence are as follows:

1) Creation: Someone with this fragment has the power to Create anything they can envision. Their right hand Creates matter, but it is limited to its wielder's knowledge. If an ordinary person gains this power only, they cannot Create a living creature without knowing how to create their insides. It is especially useful for creating simple weapons or structures without complicated internal components, but its power swells when used in conjunction with the power of Omniscience. An ordinary user will close their eyes, pull the fingers of their right hand together, illuminate with a faint purple glow, and then Create any matter they envision. By using the same mechanic, a wielder can also use their left hand to Create any form of energy (light, sound, thermal, kinetic, electric, but not location-dependent energies such as elastic or gravitational). While a wielder of Creation can regenerate their own injuries, they generally refrain from making very-large structures, or else they run the risk of exhausting themselves.

2) Destruction: Someone with this fragment has the power to Destroy anything they can touch. They can dematerialize matter that they touch with their right hand, erasing it entirely, molecule-by-molecule. While it can be used to Destroy anything, it is especially useful in battle as both a weapon and a shield. Its user can easily disarm their opponent's weapon, neutralize a projectile, or eradicate any enemy with only a single touch. But because it is limited to touch, its power swells when used in conjunction with the power of Omnipresence. An ordinary user will close their eyes, concentrate upon their target, pull the fingers of their right hand together, illuminate with a faint purple glow, and then Destroy their target entirely. By using the same mechanic, a wielder can also use their left hand to Destroy any form of energy (light, sound, kinetic, electric, but not location-dependent energies such as elastic or gravitational). While a wielder of Destruction can vaporize anything, they generally refrain from erasing very-large structures, or else they run the risk of exhausting themselves.

3) Omniscience: The all-seeing eye of Omniscience is the most volatile fragment of Omnipotence. Unlike the other powers, Omniscience is always active and cannot be switched off. It forces its user to see and hear everything in the universe all at once. Most people are overwhelmed by this power for weeks or months after they first acquire it, since their brains cannot sift through the overload of information. Unlike the other powers, it does not have any direct application in battle.

4) Omnipresence: Someone with this fragment has the power to "teleport" their physical bodies to anywhere that they can see. While it is useful in battle and for short range movements, it is almost always used in conjunction with Omniscience, allowing its user to teleport themselves anywhere in the universe. Because this teleportation is instantaneous, it allows its wielder to dodge any attack while also giving them easy access to an enemy.

By combining these four fragments, a single person can see and hear everything in the universe all at once. They can then teleport to that place, Destroy anything that offends them, and then Create anything they desire in its place.
