“Every
action has an equal and opposite reaction. This is the law of the universe.”
“The
world pushes down with immeasurable force. It is only natural that we push
back. I am a victim of circumstance. I was conceived in tragedy, and tragedy is
what I have become.”
“These
people are truly the affliction plaguing humanity. But tonight, the bandage is
set, and the wound can be amputated. Everything is set for the most captivating
scene. The dry sidewalk whispers sweetly in my ears, politely asking to have
its thirst quenched, but not just any liquid will suffice. There will come a
day when all that remains of this world will tremble from the memory of
carnage, just from hearing the whisper of my name—Naomi Ohayashi.”

Around 20 years old at the start of The Dawn of Destruction, Naomi Ohayashi lives in a relatively nice apartment in the east side of San Diego. She sustains herself and her pet cat with a modest income from online work. She is an intermittent student at best, taking college classes during some semesters and skipping others altogether. While she considers herself an expert in biology, anatomy, and biochemistry, she never intended to actually work in the field. Her interest in anatomy began when she was younger, largely to complement her drawing. She originally drew people and animals, but before long, she began drawing creatures of her own making. That said, she has essentially not spoken to anyone in years. Though she always had violent tendencies, she had an especially tragic childhood; she hates the world and considers humankind to be the source of the darkness. She spent years plotting to take revenge.
When she decided she no longer cared to string her life along, Naomi killed a person she did not know but thought of as the epitome of everything she hated. Her fascination with bloodshed captivated her, distracting her from her plot to assault a nearby nightclub. But when an asteroid fell outside the city, she dropped everything and rushed to it. When she found it, she acquired the power of Creation; she can make matter with her right hand and energy with her left. Seeing this power as an opportunity to take revenge on the world, Naomi concocted an insidious strategy.
Based on the idea of wiping the slate and beginning again, Naomi wants to enact a calamitous "reset" wherein she would kill off an enormous percentage of the population. Leaving only a trickle of humanity, she hopes that the world could grow into something far less grotesque. Though her bloodlust compels her to kill in gratuitous ways, she adamantly believes that this is the one and only way to save the broken world. Her Creation power is the perfect opportunity to do this, though she also uses it to Create the creatures she used to draw. That said, she employs them as weapons (most notably: a large wolf-like creature with an extra row of teeth, and an enormous metal worm made of spinning bladed segments). She also uses her creatures to gauge Seth's position in her coming war. While she wants his alliance (partly because she's attracted to him, partly because she finds him endearing), she quickly accepts that he will be her enemy. Since the physical attraction runs both ways, Naomi knows she can distract him with lust. She learned long ago that she has a talent for manipulating men.

Naomi quickly realizes that she can use her Creation powers to sway public opinion. In addition to blaming a murderous trainwreck on Seth, she performs public miracles to a crowd that has never seen powers before. She declares herself a prophet and asks to meet with high-ranking clergymen. In just hours, she hoists herself up as a religious figure while people search desperately for Seth (to kill him or bring him to justice).
Spoilers for Chapter 15 (I1B1C15) below
When Naomi was very young, still living in Japan, her father succumbed to the same bloodlust that lingers in her head. He killed Naomi's younger sister in a very brutal fashion (boiled alive), and then he killed her mother when she intervened. The young Naomi ran off into the woods, panicking and horrified, where she stumbled upon a burial site. She finds the place where her father had buried her other sisters (all older, all dead before she was born). Her memory had imprisoned this tragedy such that she did not coherently remember it, but the trauma of being burned and partially boiled (in chapter 10) broke the wall. The pieces of memories returned to her in dreams, inciting a wave of panic each time.
Until her memories came back, Naomi's earliest memories involved living with her aunt and uncle in San Diego.
