A guardian and student in the Temple of the Skies, Zheng Lee is a devout user of the Equilibrium Trigger. He's a man of Nepalese and Chinese descent; his grasp on the English language is imperfect as it is his third language, but he always manages to get his point across. While he was found by Master Liu's disciples from a young age and brought to the Temple, Zheng reveres the monk despite some friction between them. He is also prone to anger easily, though he works to achieve perfect mental control over his body and emotions. Because of this, he is an exceptional fighter in hand-to-hand combat.

After growing up in the Himalayan community, Zheng grew up to be a modest man with no strong friendships of any kind. For this reason, he became a guinea pig in an experiment where he ventured for years into the astral plane. Due to his perfect control over his body, he managed to store his energy as he wandered through this other realm. While he explored a mirror-version of the world in the astral plane, he accumulated this energy. However, he occasionally alludes to a dark corner he found in the astral plane. As such, he rarely ventured back after he returned. His stored energy now replenishes his stamina, essentially meaning that he will not grow exhausted from any amount of physical exercise.

As he does not know any family and is seen as an outsider even in the Himalayan community, Zheng is a lonely man. His many-year-absence strained the few friendships he had, and his general distrust of authority stopped him from growing close to Master Liu. This loneliness causes him to frequently try to befriend outsiders, including those that other Temple guards might have threatened. Despite the simple technology of the Temple, he occasionally corresponded with a friend he had never met. Since this friend was from San Diego, he quickly befriended Seth and Phil (after some initial friction). When they set out from the Temple, he even asked to join them. He flew halfway across the world to join them on their next mission.
